The words of Jaume Lleixà about The Very Best

27/11/2015

Jaume Lleixà, Technical Director of Simfònica de Cobla i Corda de Catalunya.

On February 18, 2010 I walked through the door of Metalquimia for the first time. I had a meeting with Narcís Lagares, Josep Lagares and Eulàlia Tomàs. I wanted to present them with the pedagogical project of the Orchestra of Cadaqués, the Youth Orchestra of Girona, the management of which had just been assigned to me (one of the nicest gifts I have ever received, I must say) and for which we were looking for partners. I went in with my little dossier, and with the prudence that goes with a first meeting, and I must admit that I was really impressed by what I saw:

On the one hand, I was impressed by the work of social, cultural and, more specifically, musical patronage the company was engaged in, both in Girona and the rest of the country.

On the other hand, I was impressed by the work atmosphere I perceived, with very busy but happy people, most of them with big smiles on their faces.

When I left I thought about how much I would like to be part of that world. Today, after five years, three SCCC albums and a dozen concerts, I feel very fortunate to be able to say I am a part of it.

Over time I have been able to confirm that what I observed that first day was not a result of chance or a figment of my imagination, but rather the company’s way of understanding human relations, with a combination of generosity, demand, empathy, effort, trust and kindness, mixed in just the right measure as if it were a delicate chemical formula, in which the catalysts are the people in charge who one day decided to develop said formula.

Friends and colleagues of the Metalquimia “world”, congratulations on what you have created and developed over the years and thanks for letting me be part of it.
