The words of Josep Lagares about Llegendes del Cinema (Movie Legends)

In the year 2007,  my father Narcís had a brilliant idea when he imagined the creation of a different kind of Catalan Symphony Orchestra with its own special sound never before heard … that challenge became a reality in 2008 with the first concert, and also the first record, of The Simfònica de Cobla i Corda de Catalunya SCCC, a new orchestra that combined the traditional instruments of the Cobla with the String instruments of a full scale symphony orchestra … that first work gathered together some of the most emblematic sardanas of our musical tradition and gave them an unprecedented sound of unusual beauty.

The success of Sardanes per al món encouraged us to initiate a second (2009) and a third project (2010)... with the records Inoblidables en concert and  Amb catalunya al cor the SCCC «came of age» as an orchestral group… we had managed to infuse the Catalan musical panorama with a new instrument with our very own differential sound able to combine all kinds of pieces and musical arrangements: from the sardana to the habanera, from the traditional song to Catalan Rock, in such a way encompassing an ever wider array of genres and melodies, which received public and critical recognition and merited the orchestra’s absolute protagonism in the New Year’s Concerts on TV3 in the years 2010 and 2011.

After some months of reflection on how to adapt the orchestra to the current Catalan cultural scene, this year, 2012, the SCCC returns with renewed enthusiasm... and with its soul rejuvenated, never better said... since, following the spirit of the Prince of Girona IMPULSA Forum, the new SCCC brings together and combines, under one roof, the maturity and experience provided by veterans with the enthusiasm, freshness and drive of youth.  The cobla La Principal de la Bisbal, the singers Nina and Cris Juanico and the saxophonist Pep Pobletprovide the initiative and reveal to us the extraordinary talent of the Jove Orquestra de les Comarques Gironines JOCG.

This fusion of emerging talent with established talent in the new SCCC, today presents us with «Llegendes del Cinema», a new musical proposal that, while aspiring to take international flight, distills beauty, creativity and Catalan spirit and that, with certainty, opens the door to an educational and pedagogical model of reference… On behalf of the family business I have the honor to represent, I wholeheartedly hope you will enjoy the concert and be as captivated as I have been.
