Salutation

I am happy to present Mare Mundi, the latest project of the Metalquimia Foundation, which as always bears the hallmark of the Simfònica de Cobla i Corda de Catalunya. On this occasion, they present a tribute to the sea that invites us to travel through emotions, landscapes, and cultures by means of music. This performance is not just a concert, it is an experience that reminds us of the transformative power of art and the sea, and their ability to connect us with the deepest part of ourselves.

This project touches me personally. For the past 19 years, the sea has become to me a place of serenity and memory. For me, sea is synonymous with mother. Because since my mother passed away after cancer, the sea has become the invisible thread that still today connects me to all the memories lived with her. Moreover, the sea has also become the place where my daughters have been able to meet their grandmother, through my words. And the sea, today and always, is the space of departure and connection for Catalans, from the Costa Brava to the coast of Palestine. That is why I dare to say with confidence that Mare Mundi will be able to move everyone who has the pleasure of listening live to the voices and instruments of the great artists who will present this tribute.

To conclude, I want to highlight once again the involvement of the Metalquimia Foundation, which for years has promoted this unique project. Its constant commitment to culture and music has made the SCCC a benchmark ensemble, uniting tradition and innovation, established masters and young talents. The Metalquimia Foundation has managed to provide an extraordinary instrument of cultural projection, capable of merging the unmistakable sound of the cobla with the richness of symphonic music. Girona is proud to have a business and foundation network that understands culture as a common good and a cohesion and future driving force.
