Words of Most Illustious Marta Madrenas about Clàssics Enderrock
Marta Madrenas, Mayor of Girona
In the world of music, compilations, the selection of great hits by an artist, a record label or a specific style, are often produced in order to enable the whole of a work to reach new audiences. The proposal made this year by the Cobla and String Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia is precisely this, a stop along the way to sum up the path traveled so far.
In recent years we have enjoyed a number of conscientiously arranged performances, which were received with much acclaim by both critics and the public. Winning the Enderrock awards three consecutive years for best classical record in the popular voting category is proof of this success, as are the sold-out concert venues for the performances that took place throughout the country. Tossudament Llach (Obstinately Llach), Cançó d’amor i de guerra (Song of love and war) and Llull are already part of our cultural heritage, and putting together a selection of their best moments will allow old spectators to relive them, and new audiences to discover them.
One of the goals that the Cobla and String Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia has always pursued is to promote knowledge and pedagogy around these musical styles, and the repertoire presented to us this year will undoubtedly be attractive for new audiences. I would like to thank everyone involved in the project, especially the Metalquimia Foundation and the Lagares family, for contributing to the culture of our country with the enthusiasm and dedication they have shown all these years in Girona and throughout the country.
Many thanks, and best of luck with future projects to come!
