Words of Sílvia Paneque about Mare Mundi– Tribut al mar

Salutation

I know the previous works of the Simfònica de Cobla i Corda de Catalunya, which in this edition presents Mare Mundi – Tribut al mar and I know how far this project moves and educates people. The sea is memory and future: routes, landscapes and languages; shared effort and accumulated knowledge. This edition dialogues with our Mediterranean identity and makes the
concert an experience that opens eyes, bonds and consciences.

Today, the proposal grows with voices that we love: Beth, Mariona Escoda, Samantha, Joan Garrido, Grup Arjau and the Coral Polifònica de Puig-reig. Together they trace a musical and visual journey that unites tradition and contemporaneity, technology and craftsmanship. Mare Mundi is, above all, a multidisciplinary experience that connects music, cultures and marine landscapes with a transformative perspective: listening to understand; understanding to care. At the Girona Auditorium, this energy will be fully palpable.

The values I recognize are also those that define Catalonia: openness to the world, excellence and collaborative spirit; the strength of shared language and culture; creativity that innovates without renouncing its roots; work well done and responsibility towards what belongs to everyone. This is our way of “making a country”: converting talent into opportunities, guaranteeing
access to culture and making progress compatible with a dignified life for the community and respect for the environment.

The sea asks us for humility and commitment: moving towards a greener and more circular economy, promoting research and education and placing sustainability at the centre of public and private decisions. When art calls, society responds. For this, I thank the Metalquimia Foundation and all the people who make it possible. May this Mare Mundi be a lighthouse: music that illuminates, consciousness that transforms and a country that sails forward, united in diversity and faithful to its Mediterranean vocation.
